About Me
Hello, Y'All!
My name is Ellen Ingamells (Een-ga-mells), and you are welcome to call me whatever you are comfortable with as long as it is RESPECTFUL and gets my attention; some previous favorites include: Miss Ingy, Miss I, and Königen Ingamells (Queen Ingamells, from my German students).
This is my fifth year of teaching, and my first year teaching at da Vinci, but not my first year here. I was actually a da Vinci graduate (class of 2005!) and am the daughter of a retired da Vinci math teacher, Doug Ingamells. After so many years, I know that this is a special community and I am so excited to be starting my fifth year of teaching by joining the da Vinci team!
When I am not teaching, you can usually find me outside. I am an avid backpacker, gardener, and very-slow runner--anything for a few hours of fresh air! I also love to read (everything from sci fi to the classics, business to botany), cook (currently accepting recommendations for the perfect peanut sauce recipe) and cuddle my dogs, Winston and Bert.
If you have other questions, you are welcome to email me anytime! Or sign up for an office hours slot so we can just chat!
Best,
Miss Ingamells

I started dreaming of becoming a teacher after a long week as a student leader at Outdoor School. After five days of unplugged, small group, hands on science learning, I was hooked on the idea of how FUN education could be. For the last five years I have been working to replicate the passion, creativity and ingenuity that Outdoor Education inspires in students, inside our four-walled classrooms.
I believe that the best learning happens when you are doing something you care about. In my classrooms this means I focus on:
